On Tuesday, several Belgian sources suggested that Arsenal is seriously vying for the signature of Johan Bakayoko this summer.

Romain Van der Pluym of DH Les Sports reported that Arsenal is leading the race for Bakayoko, with progress being made, although no agreement has been reached yet.

According to Van der Pluym, Mikel Arteta is seen as a coach who can elevate Bakayoko’s game, and the winger himself is considered capable of challenging Bukayo Saka for a spot on the right wing.

Additionally, Gazet van Antwerpen (via Sport Witness) claimed that while Bakayoko has attracted interest from Liverpool and Bayern Munich, Arsenal is currently the “most concrete” contender.

The report reiterated that no deal has been finalized, but the situation appears promising.

Johan Bakayoko Price Tag

PSV is expected to demand €45 million (£38 million) for Bakayoko’s transfer, with any potential deal likely to be delayed until after his participation in Euro 2024 with Belgium.

However, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri stated that there has not been any contact between Bakayoko and Arsenal at this stage.

Although a move is anticipated this summer, it is still too early to determine his destination.

Bakayoko is currently at Euro 2024, having come off the bench in Belgium’s opening game against Slovakia.

He watched from the sidelines as Belgium secured a victory over Romania in their second match.

The 21-year-old is hopeful for his first start in the tournament as Belgium faces Ukraine next on Wednesday, June 26th, at 17:00 BST.

Last season, Bakayoko impressed with 14 goals and 14 assists in 48 games for PSV. He notably stood out during their Champions League group stage match against Arsenal in Eindhoven.
