Arsenal the ‘completely obvious’ option for £50m RB Leipzig winger

Arsenal have been described as the “completely obvious” destination for Antonio Nusa, with a £50million January transfer battle for the RB Leipzig winger expected to intensify in the coming weeks.

The 21 year old Norway international has been in electrifying form this season, scoring six goals and providing seven assists in just 13 Bundesliga appearances. That run of form has put several of Europe's biggest clubs on alert, with Arsenal reportedly leading the chase.

Former Norway midfielder Kristoffer Lokberg, speaking on NRK's Bakrommet podcast, via Sport Witness, made the case for why Arsenal should move for Nusa now rather than risk missing out.

“He is one of the world's most exciting left wingers. We have been waiting for his potential to come to full bloom, but now it is exploding,” Lokberg said. “Big clubs can no longer sit on the fence, they must act quickly before he disappears, or they will be left regretting it.”

Arsenal's need on the left

Lokberg went further, naming Arsenal specifically as the frontrunner and pointing to a gap in Mikel Arteta's squad on the left flank.

“The completely obvious option in the Premier League is Arsenal,” he said. “The player fits their playing style, and the club has a real need. They basically only have Tzolis and a slightly half hearted Eberechi Eze as options on the left wing. I think Arsenal sit around every day, weighing whether to pull the trigger.”

Arsenal are expected to look at reinforcing their attack in the January window given their struggles in front of goal this season. Nusa has emerged as one of several names being floated, alongside Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi and Juventus wonderkid Kenan Yildiz, though the Leipzig man is considerably less experienced than that pair.

Price tag could prove decisive

Leipzig are said to be demanding at least £50m for Nusa, a figure that may give Arsenal pause given the glut of attacking targets already on their radar. Lokberg, however, suggested a deal closer to £40m could be enough to force Leipzig's hand.

Nusa only arrived in the Bundesliga from Club Brugge in 2024, but his rapid improvement this season has made him one of the most talked about wingers outside the traditional big five leagues. Whether Arsenal move for him in January, pursue alternatives such as Yildiz or Kroupi, or wait until the summer remains to be seen as the mid season window approaches.
