Arsenal’s summer transfer plans have taken a significant turn with one of Europe’s top midfielders, Joshua Kimmich, expressing his desire to join the North London club.

Currently showcasing his talents at Euro 2024, Kimmich’s potential move could bolster Arsenal’s squad and align with their ambitions under Mikel Arteta.

After missing out on Benjamin Sesko earlier this month, Arsenal‘s focus has shifted towards strengthening their midfield.

A new number six to upgrade on Jorginho and potentially replace Thomas Partey is seen as a crucial addition.

Although Arsenal might consider signing a number eight, Arteta prefers utilizing Declan Rice in a more advanced role.

Adding a new left-back and possibly a wide-forward are also on the agenda for Arsenal’s technical director, Edu.

Kimmich Could Leave Bayern

German journalist Florian Plettenberg recently reported that Kimmich has been informed he can leave Bayern Munich.

Under new manager Vincent Kompany, Bayern aims to reshape their midfield, targeting Fulham’s Joao Palhinha instead.

Plettenberg confirmed that Kimmich, who has been a captain and regular starter, can depart if a suitable offer is made.

His contract with Bayern extends until 2025, but the club has no plans for an extension.

Joshua Kimmich Shows Interest in Arsenal

Kimmich is eager to join Arteta’s project at Arsenal.

Plettenberg revealed that the German international is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium, along with considering other top clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.

Arsenal would greatly benefit from Kimmich’s versatility, as he is not only exceptional in midfield but also one of the best right-backs in the world.

His ability to play multiple positions could be invaluable for Arsenal, especially given their need for further additions at full-back.

The Competition and the Stakes

As much as Arsenal would gain from Kimmich’s arrival, it is equally crucial to prevent him from joining Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola has previously praised Kimmich as ‘outstanding’, acknowledging that he would significantly enhance City’s squad.

With City in the race for his signature, Arsenal must act decisively to secure Kimmich and avoid strengthening a direct rival.

Signing Kimmich, rated at £51m, would be a strategic coup for Arsenal.

His experience, skill, and leadership qualities align perfectly with Arteta’s vision for the team.

The 28-year-old’s presence could elevate Arsenal’s midfield and provide the depth and flexibility needed to compete at the highest level.
