Teddy Sheringham believes Arsenal's status as reigning Premier League champions gives Mikel Arteta the kind of pulling power Sir Alex Ferguson once had at Manchester United, suggesting that could extend to tempting Erling Haaland away from Manchester City.

Arsenal won their first league title since 2004 last season, and the former Manchester United striker argues that success is already shaping the club's approach in the transfer market. Arsenal were linked with both Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior during the summer window as part of what was described as a ramped-up pursuit of marquee attacking talent. Despite the interest, Christos Tzolis arrived from Club Brugge as the only new attacking addition following the departures of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli.
