When Bernd Leno moved to Fulham from Arsenal, the initial transfer fee raised eyebrows at just £3 million, with an additional £5 million in performance-based add-ons.

These add-ons were designed to be achievable, with the first £2 million paid to Arsenal last summer after Fulham successfully avoided relegation.

According to reports from The Standard, Arsenal was set to receive another £2 million if Fulham managed to stay in the Premier League for another season, which they did.

This performance has ensured that Arsenal has now received the second £2 million payment this summer, completing most of the agreed-upon add-ons.

Final Add-On Based on Premier League Appearances

The final £1 million of the add-on payments was contingent upon Leno’s Premier League appearances.

Although the exact number required wasn’t specified, Leno has made 75 league appearances for Fulham, suggesting that he has likely met or is close to meeting this target.

As Fulham’s starting goalkeeper, it’s expected that Arsenal will receive this final payment soon, if not already.

In total, Arsenal will have collected the full £8 million for Leno, a sum that, while better than the initial £3 million, is still considered by many to be a bargain for a goalkeeper of Leno’s caliber.

Bernd Leno Performance and Future Prospects

Since joining Fulham, Leno has been a reliable presence in goal, recording 18 clean sheets in 79 appearances across all competitions.

This follows his previous record of 37 clean sheets in 125 matches for Arsenal.

Despite his consistent performances, Leno missed out on a call-up to the German national team for Euro 2024 due to a shoulder injury.
