Harry Kane was in no mood to dismiss Arsenal's performance after Bayern Munich were held to a 2-2 draw by the Gunners in the Champions League on Wednesday night, admitting the result at the Allianz Arena was a fair reflection of the contest.

Goals from Alphonso Davies and Kane himself were cancelled out by Eberechi Eze and Declan Rice as the two European heavyweights shared the spoils in a frantic encounter. Speaking to DAZN at full time, the England captain and former Spurs striker had little complaint about the outcome.

Who's out, who's back and what it means for the next two games.

"I thought it was a good performance. I think for large spells of the game, especially the start of the second half, we had a real intensity," Kane said. "We looked dangerous, we got the goal and we had a moment to kill the game off. We had the momentum, they looked tired, but then we got caught in a low block for the final 15 minutes and they punished us with the goal."

Kane went further, conceding that Bayern may not have done enough to deserve all three points. "The draw was probably a fair result overall. I think we could have been a bit more clinical in the final third. But there are a lot of games, we've got a lot of players with injuries who are missing tonight. In the end, we'll take the point and move on."

He also pointed to the physical nature of the match. "It was a battle. Every duel was important. They look for the second balls and build from there into the game. I thought we dealt with that for most of the game pretty well. As the game got a little stretched towards the end, they grew into it and they're a good physical team. Like I said, with the games we're playing, it's about every little detail. We probably didn't get enough right to deserve the win."

Bischof echoes Kane's praise

Kane's view was shared by teammate Tom Bischof, who felt Arsenal were a different breed of opponent to the sides Bayern typically face domestically.

"When you take the lead late, it's disappointing to not take three points. We had good phases in the second half, settled in up front, but Arsenal are a good team. They applied pressure and got their goal," Bischof said, as quoted by football.london.

"This wasn't just any opponent. We maybe needed to be a little more disruptive and annoying in the challenges as well as clever."

A result to build on

For Mikel Arteta's side, a draw away at one of Europe's most consistent heavyweights, with the admission from the hosts that they were fortunate not to be beaten, will be viewed as a solid marker in a demanding Champions League campaign. Arsenal now turn their attention back to domestic action as the fixtures continue to stack up before the next European test.
