Forest Close to Securing Arsenal’s Striker After Santiago Gimenez Deal Failed

Nottingham Forest is on the brink of finalizing a deal with Arsenal for the transfer of striker Eddie Nketiah.
The two clubs have been engaged in negotiations, with personal terms for Nketiah already agreed upon, while the final transfer fee is yet to be settled.
Forest’s Push for Nketiah
Nottingham Forest had initially offered £25 million, including add-ons, to secure Nketiah’s services.

However, Arsenal turned down this opening bid, as they are looking for a figure closer to £30-35 million.
Despite the setback, Forest remains determined to bring Nketiah to the City Ground, as he has emerged as their top target to strengthen their attacking options for the ongoing Premier League season.
Nketiah, who has made 168 appearances and scored 38 goals for Arsenal, was also a potential target for Marseille earlier this summer.
However, the proposed move to France fell through due to disagreements over the transfer fee.
Crystal Palace has also shown interest in the 25-year-old forward, although their pursuit has not advanced as far as Forest’s ongoing negotiations.
Nketiah’s Role at Nottingham Forest
Should the transfer be completed, Nketiah would join Forest’s attacking lineup alongside Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi, offering head coach Nuno Espirito Santo an additional option up front.
Forest, currently embarking on their third consecutive Premier League season, started their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth.
While Forest remains focused on securing Nketiah, they have also considered other options to bolster their attack.
The East Midlands club explored a potential move for Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord. However, their offers have not met the Dutch club’s valuation, and Gimenez has shown no desire to force a move.
Next Steps for Forest and Arsenal
As talks progress, Forest is keen to finalize the deal before their next Premier League match against newly-promoted Southampton.
Meanwhile, Arsenal, fresh off a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers where Nketiah was an unused substitute, is holding firm on their valuation of the forward.
The coming days will be crucial as Nottingham Forest pushes to meet Arsenal’s asking price, hoping to secure Nketiah’s signature and further strengthen their squad for the season ahead.
