Tottenham 2-0 Arsenal- Son and Kane gun down Arsenal

Tottenham cruised to a 2-0 win over bitter rivals Arsenal as Jose Mourinho delivered yet another tactical masterclass.

First-half goals from Hon Seung-Min and Harry Kane were enough to see Spurs overcome their rivals and go back top of the Premier League.

Gabriel partnered with Rob Holding in defense along with Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney.

Thomas Partey returned to the starting line-up; Reiss Nelson did not make the matchday squad.

It was a front three consisting of Bukayo Saka, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, and Willian with Alexandre Lacazette playing just behind.

For Spurs, both Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris were past fit for the clash with Tanguy Ndombele out with an injury.

Arsenal started the better of the two sides, controlling possession and looked comfortable with Thomas Partey enjoying time on the ball.

The Gunners were in control when they were hit on a devastating counter. Hon Seung-Min was in acres of space, picking up the ball, and was allowed to run towards the box before he rifled a superb curling effort which found its way past Bernd Leno in goal.

That was Spurs first real attempt on goal as Jose Mourinho’s game plan was clearly to play on the counter.

After conceding, Arsenal controlled possession without creating any clear-cut chances which has been a worrying theme this season.

Just as the Arsenal were working their way back into the game, putting crossed into the box and maintaining possession, just before half time a hammer blow to Arsenal. With Thomas Partey off injured the defense was left exposed at the back with Son and Harry Kane running at the defense.

Son played a neat little ball to Kane who then smashed home his shot from close range to give Spurs a 2-0 lead going into halftime. Arsenal had it all to do after the break, two goals down and Thomas Partey substituted for Dani Ceballos, it was truly an uphill battle for Mikel Arteta’s men.

Arsenal started the second half the better side, controlling possession with Spurs happy to sit back and let them have the ball.

The only really good chance Arsenal created came on 67 minutes when Lacazette had his header which forced Hugo Lloris into a rare save however after that Arsenal did not threaten the Spurs goal.

Arsenal controlled possession, had more shots but could not find a way past Tottenham as they were relatively untroubled for the entire game. To rub salt into the wounds, Thomas Partey is again injured, and it remains to be seen how long he is going to be out for.

Spurs cruised to a 2-0 win and once again it was another Jose Mourinho masterclass that sees them top of the table.

Arsenal now languishes down in 15th in the table and the result will only heap more pressure on Mikel Arteta after another insipid performance from his team.

Next up for Arsenal is Burnley at home in the Premier League and Mikel Arteta is going to have his work cut out to get his side back to winning ways.
