Arsenal accomplished a remarkable feat on Sunday by winning their third consecutive North London derby at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In a fiercely contested match, the Gunners secured a 1-0 victory, with Gabriel Magalhaes’ header proving decisive.

Despite a depleted squad, Mikel Arteta’s men made history with this Premier League triumph, marking the first time Arsenal have won three straight away games against Tottenham in the league.

Arsenal Prevail Despite Injury Setbacks

Arsenal’s squad was significantly weakened due to injuries and suspensions, leaving five teenagers on the bench.

Despite the challenges, Arteta’s side faced a near full-strength Tottenham team, including key players Dominic Solanke and Micky van de Ven.

Spurs applied constant pressure throughout the first half but were unable to capitalise on their dominance.

Arsenal, known for their set-piece proficiency, struck in the second half as Gabriel Magalhaes headed home from a Bukayo Saka corner, punishing Tottenham’s defensive vulnerabilities.

The goal was reminiscent of Arsenal’s previous successes from set pieces, as seen in past wins against Leicester City and Newcastle United.

White and Saliba Match Tony Adams’ Feat

Defensively, Arsenal excelled, with Gabriel, Ben White, and William Saliba putting on a stellar performance.

Their steadfast defending helped secure a third consecutive away win against Tottenham, a feat last achieved in the late 1980s under legendary captain Tony Adams.

Both White and Saliba have now joined Adams in becoming the first Arsenal players since the late 1980s to win their first three away North London derbies.

Tottenham dominated possession, but Arsenal’s backline kept them at bay, limiting Spurs to hopeful shots from distance.

With 15 shots in total, Tottenham only managed to get five on target, highlighting their lack of cutting edge in attack.

Arteta Praises Arsenal’s Defensive Resilience

After the match, Mikel Arteta hailed his team’s defensive efforts, calling them “top drawer.”

While acknowledging that Tottenham forced Arsenal to adapt their game plan, Arteta praised his players for rising to the occasion despite being without key midfielders Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

“They create an unbelievable atmosphere, and we knew it would be tough,” Arteta told Sky Sports.

“We weren’t the best with the ball today, but the way we defended was top drawer.

Sometimes, you have to go over hurdles, and I’m delighted with how we handled it.”

With this hard-fought win, Arsenal climbed to second in the Premier League table.

They now shift their focus to their upcoming Champions League clash with Atalanta BC before facing Manchester City in a crucial top-of-the-table encounter next weekend.
