Transfer Collapse After Initial ‘Green Light’
The potential transfer of Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal to Olympique de Marseille has come to a complete halt.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the French club has officially informed Arsenal that the deal has “100% collapsed.”
The stumbling block appears to be Arsenal’s firm stance on their valuation of the player, holding out for a €30 million package.
Marseille, who reportedly offered up to €27 million, became frustrated with the slow pace of negotiations and eventually pulled out of the deal.
Uncertain Future for Eddie Nketiah
Eddie Nketiah’s future at Arsenal remains uncertain following the failed transfer.
Last season, the 25-year-old striker started only ten Premier League matches, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
His limited playing time and desire for regular first-team football made a move away from the Emirates seem likely.
However, with the collapse of the Marseille deal, Nketiah may have to wait for another opportunity to secure a move.
Potential Suitors Emerge for Nketiah
Despite the setback, there are still potential options for Nketiah. The striker’s proven ability to score in the Premier League makes him an attractive target for clubs in need of firepower.
One possible destination could be AFC Bournemouth, who recently lost their star striker, Dominic Solanke, to Tottenham Hotspur in a club-record £65 million sale.
Bournemouth could be in the market for a new striker and may consider Nketiah, with a fee of around £25 million being within their reach.
Given the opportunity to be the focal point of a team like Bournemouth, Nketiah could have a chance to shine and add to his tally of 19 Premier League goals.
The failed move to Marseille leaves Nketiah in limbo, but with the transfer window still open, there may yet be a chance for him to find a new club and continue his development away from Arsenal.
