After previously signing Mason Greenwood from Manchester United, the Ligue 1 club, under the direction of Roberto De Zerbi, is eager to further strengthen their attacking options.

Nketiah, who has seen limited playing time under Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, has emerged as a top target for Marseille.

Eddie Nketiah Struggles at Arsenal

Nketiah’s position at Arsenal has become increasingly uncertain. Once a promising forward, the London-born striker has fallen down the pecking order, finding himself overshadowed by the likes of Gabriel Jesus.

His situation was further complicated when Arteta chose to field midfielder Kai Havertz in a forward role, leaving Nketiah without even a backup position.

With his playing time significantly reduced, Nketiah is understandably looking for a fresh start, and a move to Marseille under De Zerbi’s guidance seems to offer that opportunity.

Negotiations Underway

The latest bid from Marseille has prompted Arsenal to reopen negotiations, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano highlighting the potential for progress in these talks.

The French club had previously attempted to secure Nketiah earlier in the transfer window but failed to make headway.

Now, with renewed efforts, both clubs are set to continue discussions.

Despite Nketiah’s desire to leave, Arsenal remains in a strong negotiating position due to the striker’s three years remaining on his contract.

However, should Arsenal and Marseille fail to reach an agreement, there is a possibility that the deal could fall through once again.

Since joining Arsenal’s first team in 2019, Nketiah has made 168 appearances, scoring 38 goals and providing seven assists across all competitions.

He has also earned one cap for the England national team.
