The Gunners have been busy in the transfer market, with Riccardo Calafiori recently joining from Bologna.

Mikel Arteta’s team aims to strengthen its attack further, preparing their first bid for Mikel Merino in the coming days.

Despite their offensive firepower, Arsenal still needs a clinical number nine who can consistently deliver 20+ goals per season.

The north London side is keen on adding a top striker and has been linked with numerous forwards, including Osimhen, who may leave Napoli soon.

Fabrizio Romano’s Insights on Osimhen and Arsenal Future

Victor Osimhen, currently with Napoli, has two years left on his contract.

Arsenal has shown interest in him and Viktor Gyokeres as potential alternatives.

Gabriel Jesus’ return of just four league goals last season highlighted the need for a more prolific striker to push Arsenal closer to the Premier League title.

However, acquiring Osimhen might require a significant financial commitment.

Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Osimhen is not willing to reduce his salary, which stands at €11m (£9.5m) net per season.

Romano stated, “Osimhen is not going to give up on his salary. So forget about Osimhen cutting his salary. It’s something that isn’t going to happen. And it’s a big salary, €11m (£9.5m) net per season. So interest still there, but no movements in the recent hours. And I feel that it’s gonna be something for the final weeks.”

Arsenal’s Title Ambitions Hinged on a Top Striker

Ironically, Arsenal finished the season as the Premier League’s top scorers but missed the title by just two points.

This close finish underscores the need for a reliable striker. If Gabriel Jesus had scored just ten goals, it might have secured the extra wins necessary for the title.

Signing a player like Osimhen could significantly enhance Arsenal’s chances of dethroning Manchester City.

The expectation is that Osimhen’s arrival would provide the clinical edge Arsenal needs to clinch the Premier League title.
