Arsenal Missed Out on Ivan Toney for Just £55m
Arsenal have been on the lookout for a new striker to strengthen their squad as they aim to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.
Despite being linked with several top forwards, one name that consistently appears on Arsenal’s radar is Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

However, recent reports suggest that Arsenal may have missed a golden opportunity to secure Toney’s services at a bargain price.
Arsenal Offered Ivan Toney for a Cut-Price Deal
According to journalist Steve Kay, who spoke on KS1 TV, Arsenal were presented with the chance to sign Toney earlier this year for a significantly reduced fee.
Initially touted as a £100 million player, Toney was instead offered to Arsenal for just £55 million in January. Kay revealed that despite this offer, Arsenal didn’t seem interested in pursuing the deal.
“There’s not a bidding war. He was never a £100m player. That was a joke. Nobody was ever going to pay that,” Kay said.
“I know for a fact that in January they offered him to Arsenal for £55m, but for some reason, Arsenal didn’t want to know. I was told they weren’t that bothered in him, not even at £55m.”
Arsenal’s Missed Opportunity
Passing up the chance to sign Toney for £55 million may prove to be a costly mistake for Arsenal.
The striker has demonstrated his ability to score 20 goals in a Premier League season, a feat that could have made a significant difference in Arsenal’s title race last season.
With Arsenal finishing just two points behind Manchester City, having a proven goal-scorer like Toney leading their attack might have been the edge they needed to secure the title.
As the summer transfer window remains open, Arsenal’s search for a striker continues. The question now is whether they will revisit their interest in Toney or look elsewhere to fill the void.
Time will tell if Arsenal’s decision to pass on Toney will come back to haunt them as they continue their quest to dethrone Manchester City at the top of English football.
