Arsenal Readying Bid for Espanyol’s Star as Ramsdale Replacement

Arsenal is making strategic moves in the summer transfer window, with their latest target being Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
As Aaron Ramsdale edges closer to a potential exit, the Gunners are preparing an official bid for the 23-year-old Spaniard, who has already reached a preliminary agreement with the North London club.

Garcia, who recently starred for Spain in the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning the gold medal, has caught the attention of Arsenal’s management as they seek to bolster their goalkeeping options.
With Ramsdale linked to a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Arsenal is keen to have a replacement lined up before finalizing any deal.
According to Romano, Arsenal’s interest in Garcia is serious, and they are ready to make an official bid once Ramsdale’s departure is confirmed.
Romano stated in his Daily Briefing, “Arsenal already have an agreement with Joan Garcia to replace Ramsdale if he leaves. The Espanyol goalkeeper, 23, won the Olympics final with Spain this summer, and he has an agreement on a contract with Arsenal. Now it’s down to a club-to-club agreement, but that’s not going to be a problem from what I’m hearing, so when Ramsdale leaves, they will be ready with an official bid for Garcia, this is the idea.”
Ramsdale Linked with Wolves Move
Aaron Ramsdale, who has been Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper until the arrival of David Raya, is reportedly on the verge of leaving the club.
Ramsdale has been linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he is said to be interested in playing under manager Gary O’Neil.
The prospect of regular playing time and a fresh challenge in the Premier League could see the 26-year-old make the switch to Molineux.
With Ramsdale’s future in doubt, Arsenal’s swift action in securing a deal with Garcia highlights their intent to maintain strength in their goalkeeping department.
David Raya, whose loan move from Brentford was made permanent earlier in the summer, has taken over the starting role, leaving Ramsdale in search of opportunities elsewhere.
Competition for Garcia’s Signature
While Arsenal appears to be in pole position to sign Joan Garcia, they are not alone in their pursuit of the talented goalkeeper.
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo has reported that Liverpool has also entered the race for Garcia, while La Liga side Girona is another interested party.
Garcia, who made 14 appearances for Espanyol last season, has shown great potential and could be a valuable addition to any club looking for a reliable shot-stopper.
Arsenal’s proactive approach in reaching an agreement with Garcia may give them the edge, but with other clubs circling, they will need to act quickly to secure his services.
